The historical notion of Inter-Marium captured Poland’s centuriesold concept of integrating, in a form of confederation, the new states that appeared on the map between the Baltic and Black Seas after 1918. Reincarnated as the contemporary narrative of Tri-Marium, this notion is gaining new momentum and has been most visible in Poland, the largest state of the European Union’s Eastern semi-periphery. This article examines Inter-Marium as one of the most clearly articulated counter-narratives to the mainstream European integration project. Contemporary feminist novelists in Jordan are raising issues of emancipation, patriarchal society, violence against women and social attitudes in unaccustomed ways unknown earlier in the country. This is embedded within the political and socio-economic developments taking place in the country since 1990. The main aim of this scenario is to explore and to re-think the space-gender nexus in the new women’s novel using geo-hermeneutical approaches.

Daniel O'Connell (Cahersiveen 1775 - Genoa 1847), an Irish politician and patriot, fought for Catholic Emancipation, to repeal the penal laws discriminating Irish Catholics and the Act of Union. Believing firmly in non-violence, he defended the representation of Irish Catholics in Parliament as the most appropriate instrument to support their rights. The paper intends to focus on the unfinished character of a slow-modernity where women are still in the balance between legitimacy frame concerning their emancipation in the public sphere, and representation frame of traditional roles of spouse and mother in private life; between postmodern values, accepted rationally, and premodern values, internalized emotionally.
